Location: Fiosrú – Office of the Police Ombudsman, Blackpool, Cork.

Role Overview: Investigations Officers report to a Senior Investigations Officer in Fiosrú and perform a central role in conducting independent investigations into complaints against An Garda Síochána. Investigations Officers have, for the purpose of an investigation, the same powers, immunities and privileges conferred as members of An Garda Síochána. They are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and human rights. Candidates must demonstrate or develop a strong understanding of the Irish justice system and the broader law enforcement environment in which Fiosrú operates.

Investigators

Investigators required to undertake covert visits to licensed premises and clubs throughout Northern Ireland and ROI during weekends.

  • This will involve visiting targeted premises/clubs to obtain details of whether correct agreements are in place to display specified broadcasts to the public.

  • Full training will be given and work will be on a self-employed basis.

  • All visit results are submitted via an online system.

  • Valid PSA Private Investigator Employee Licence required for work within ROI.

  • Payments range from 116 – 126 euros (£97 - £105) for each outing undertaken and will be paid in Sterling.

  • An outing will typically consist between 2-4 premises visits during a specified time slot of 90 minutes.

  • Mileage will be paid at £0.28 per kilometre/£0.45 per mile.

  • Typically, this will suit an Investigator looking for flexible weekend work.
