On Thursday 19 March 2026 at the Emergency Services & Military Expo in the RDS, I had the privilege of helping to launch the very first Ireland’s Blue Light Awards.
We live in a world where achievement is often celebrated publicly, and rightly so. But while many are recognised for portraying dramatic situations, our Blue Light Services live them every day. They do not work with scripts, special effects, or rehearsals. They face real emergencies, real danger, real trauma, and real human need. They make critical decisions under pressure, bring calm to chaos, and support people and families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
That is why I am so proud to be involved in bringing Ireland’s Blue Light Awards to life. This is about more than an awards ceremony. It is about recognition, respect, and shining a light on the brave men and women of our emergency services who give so much in service to others. Their courage, professionalism, dedication, and personal sacrifice deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated.
Nominations are now open: www.bluelightawards.com
If there was ever a group deserving of national recognition, it is those who protect, rescue, support, and serve our communities every single day.
Please help us spread the word and ensure the people who stand up for others receive the recognition they truly deserve.
